About Our Company.

The Florette has been serving the floral needs of Ord, Nebraska and the surrounding communities since 1937 and has been in its current location at 1430 L Street since 1965. Kate Zangger purchased the shop in September 2021 and is excited to continue to serve the community in many ways, investing and using resources to improve and expand the facility and it's product offerings all the while using innovative designs and additional creativity to usher the shop into the new era. This is an exciting time for us!

The team at The Florette works efficiently to bring your vision to reality.  We use our creativity and work with your inspiration to build everything from small bouquets to complete funeral displays. We offer delivery of anything we carry in store (yes, that's right! We deliver flowers, balloons, chocolates, plants, home decor and all the gifts!)  We can fulfill most orders in your specified timeframe (with a few exceptions, weather for example). 

In addition to flowers we carry a large selection of indoor plants, blooming plants (seasonally), pottery and other beautiful containers in addition to silk arrangements and stems. We are proud to carry a variety of Nebraska made products which make excellent gift items, Bakers Chocolates (Greenwood NE), H+G Candles & Melts (Hallam NE), Peace On Po home and body care (Burwell NE), Kent Craft wood keychains, magnets and sundries and On The Fringe Macrame & Fringe wallhangings, earings, keychains, wristlets and other items (Ord, NE). You'll also find unique and on trend home decor, both season and year round.  It's easy to breathe new life into your space with a couple new accents and a quick re-arrange of your furniture. 

We are proud to offer a complete line of mylar and latex balloons including giant numbers for your celebrations!  We also partner with Jim's Formal Wear for your tuxedo rental needs, keeping in mind that sometimes you just need a shirt, vest and tie...we can do that too! Did you know sustainability is important to us? One way we're implementing this practice is offering store credit for vases, baskets and containers returned to us in excellent, clean condition. The floral industry has been affected by global shipping, freight and courier delays, upcharges and general lack of availability of specialized products prompting business owners to adapt and seek creative ways to stay ahead of inventory needs, consumer demand while remaining fiscally responsible and keeping valuable employees on staff.  At The Florette we encourage you to recycle your clean vases, baskets, pottery or metal containers with us!  It's a way to ensure these items don't get tossed before they can be used when supplies are short. Not all items brought in will be used, as we will continue to deliver unique and beautiful items, however, we'd love the opportunity to use what we can and give you a store credit to use on something new! So, gather all those items in your cabinet and bring them in!

The Florette is a proud member of the Ord Area Chamber of Commerce.  We actively participate in community functions and proudly support local organizations, events and functions in various ways throughout the year.  Being a part of a community with such a vibrant economic development focus is a pleasure and our location sits prominently on the highway 11 business corridor and renovated downtown business district so we are easily accessible to the community, visitors and tourists passing through on their way to any of our regional attractions!
